A digital baby scrapbook with a print-out tool available for all of the photos, messages and other content would make a great gift for parents, grandparents…anyone. And now you can turn your digital photos into one of these memorable online baby albums in just a few simple steps.

You can create a basic website by grabbing a library book with HTML code and using Notepad on your PC, by using software like Microsoft Frontpage or by heading to a 3rd party company who has everything handy for you like GoDaddy.com. There are other options, too, like purchasing a website from someone selling at places like eBay, or purchasing a template from online vendors and revising it with your Notepad or other software on your computer (check with templates to see compatibility.)

Here are basic website features to look for and add to your website:

 

• Photo uploads – with GoDaddy’s Website Tonight or Quick Blog , you can add photo album links of a photo slideshow. Same thing with Frontgape and other software programs. Check Help and Support files and menus with your program. For more help, seek interactive forums like http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum and meet new friends while learning the ropes.
• Backgrounds / Color scheme – Play around with different background templates and color schemes in GoDaddy, with your software and HTML code. You can often change these at any point in time, creating a whole new look in a click.
• Interactive Area – Add a forum, message area, live chat or other interactive communication system to your site. Blog have a Comment area, perfect for this.
• News Area – Set up a main area on the front page or index page for news, like your birth announcement. With today’s technology on some sites, you can even plug in RSS news feeds to help bring more of the world into your site. For example, if you head to http://news.yahoo.com/rss you can set up a custom news feed with keywords you enter yourself like, “baby showers,” “baby toys” and “baby books.”
• Fun Area – Set up a page of baby articles linked for your visitors, of coloring and activity pages for visitors’ children (search online for free ones, like at: http://crayola.com ).
• Subscribe / Email – You can invite people to subscribe to your blog, and they will receive instant updates as you post. Fof non-blogs, gather email addresses of your friends and send them the link when you update the site.
